We recommend the following before your Infrared Sauna Session: -Bring a large water bottle preferably metal or glass (not plastic) filled with cold water to drink during your sauna . You will be provided with a towel but you can also wear your swimwear and get changed before entering the sauna -Limit your food intake to lighter foods to avoid feeling uncomfortable during session -Drink plenty of water or other healthy beverages to stay hydrated -Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages as they can exacerbate dehydration caused by the heat of the sauna When your Infrared Sauna session ends, rehydrate, and towel-off. -Drink water immediately after finishing your session -It is recommended for beginners, to take a cool shower; and try to stay inside for at least 30 seconds. -It is recommended for intermediate, to take a cool shower; and try to stay inside for at least 2 minutes.

Far Infrared Heat therapy uses the wavelength of the visible and non-visible light spectrum of sunlight that heats the body normally. Far infrared waves penetrate deep into our body for a deep heating action. This penetrating heat gently raises the body’s core temperature and allows the body to detox naturally via the process of sweat, through the largest organ of the body – the skin. In addition, on a cellular level, the body feels the same elevated circulation, warmth, and energy that is usually felt only from exercise.

Traditional saunas raise the temperature of the air to a very high level within the chamber to warm the body. When you are sitting in a traditional sauna, you are sitting in a hot room; 80°C -105°C degrees. Some people have difficulty breathing in this extremely warm air. Far infrared saunas work differently. Instead of heating the air within the enclosure, it heats the body directly. In the Clearlight Far Infrared Sauna only about 20% of the heat goes to heat the air and the other 80% directly heats your body. The result is deeper tissue penetration. The radiant heat can penetrate deep below the skin producing a gentle warming inside the body. The warming effect on your body stimulates your cardiovascular system, your immune system and your lymphatic system. Your body’s response to that is to sweat. In the far infrared sauna, the body perspires and receives all of the healthy benefits but avoids the harmful and extremely hot air of a traditional steam sauna. Infrared saunas leave you feeling invigorated, not depleted like conventional saunas.

Yes! Infrared heat is all around us. Infrared heat is very safe. If you are pregnant you need medical clearance.
Contact lens wearers may experience dry eyes, discomfort or blurred vision caused by the heat. To avoid these issues, it is recommended that contact lenses are removed prior to entering the sauna and replaced with eyeglasses or some other form of visual aid.

For optimal results, we recommend at least 3 Infrared Sauna sessions per week. These sessions would ideally last for 30 to 45 minutes each. However, what is most important is that you do what is comfortable for you!

DRY BODY BRUSH

Performing dry brushing inside an infrared sauna enhances the benefits of stimulating your lymphatic system and improving your skin complexion and removing toxins with more blood flow, bringing vital nutrients and oxygen to the skin’s surface that can help reduce cellulite. Starting from the bottom of your body, brush upward towards your heart, targeting areas with the most lymph nodes such as behind the knees and under the arms. Ensure that you brush your legs, upper arms, back, abdomen, chest, and neck and cover the entire body to promote overall lymphatic circulation and exfoliation. 

GUA SHA

Whether applying gua sha during your sauna session or immediately afterwards, this process ensures that the benefits of each will be dramatically increased.

A session in a Clearlight Infrared® Sauna stimulates blood circulation, activates the lymphatic system, and accelerates cellular repair. The infrared rays of the sauna are ideal for opening the body’s pores and releasing any fat-trapped toxins. Once these waste materials are at the surface and circulating the blood-stream, a gua sha instrument is able to effectively strip them from the body. 

Massage an essential oil or lotion of your choosing into the targeted areas

Sit and relax for at least 20 minutes before beginning your gua sha treatment

With the gua sha instrument, gently stroke the affected areas (any locations on your body experiencing pain or discomfort). Ensure that a downward motion is used, varying between short and long strokes, at your preferred level of intensity. For the face, use a smaller instrument and apply less pressure. When treating larger areas such as legs or back, longer strokes work more effectively. Allow at least 10 minutes of treatment or how ever long you feel comfortable

It is amazing just how much waste can be removed by this simple process. The increased blood flow experienced during the sauna session will also allow the gua sha instrument to more efficiently detect any disruptions in the circulatory system. Spending just 20-minutes in the sauna is thus ideal for preparing the body for gua sha, multiplying the effects of both treatments.
